Kourage Kids

Camp Courageous

How do you mend a broken heart?

Children ages 5 to 18 who have suffered the loss of an important person in their lives need something other than medical care; they need understanding, support, affection, company, and fun.

All this and more is provided free of charge at Kourage Kids, a one-day camp that helps children deal with their sadness under the direction of trained grief counselors.

An extension of Methodist Hospice Services, Kourage Kids is funded through gifts to the Foundation.

Your gift of $250 provides this life-affirming experience for a child who needs to know there are people who care.

Pediatric Medical Services

A sick child presents a special set of circumstances that requires special care and understanding.

Your gift to the Foundation’s Pediatric Services fund will be used to purchase and update pediatric equipment and technology and to provide specialized training for the nurses that care for children at Methodist. Educational materials and services for parents are also funded by these dollars.

Gift helps brighten
kids' hospital stays

Methodist Child Life Specialist Carol Weiss needed some new toys and supplies to help her with her job of comforting and teaching young patients. That's where Barbara Spurgeon stepped in. Barb, a past Foundation Board member, member of the Foundation’s President’s Society, and also a Methodist volunteer for many years, made a generous gift to the Foundation to enhance the pediatric experience at Methodist.

"I like to see my gift at work," Barb said, "so I am happy to support Carol's efforts. It is clear that she is making a big difference for children and their parents at Methodist."
