Michael Bryant
President & Chief Executive Officer

Michael Bryant has been President and CEO of Methodist Health Services Corporation since July 1999.  Michael is very active in community, economic development and educational organizations. He and his wife, Paula, are co-chairs of the Heart of Illinois United Way Campaign.  He is co-founder of PeoriaNEXT, a consortium of research based institutions, including global giant Caterpillar, Bradley University, National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, UICOMP, and Methodist Medical Center, among others that are leading Peoria and Central Illinois into the 21st Century knowledge economy.  He is currently Chair of the CEO Roundtable, a group of business and community leaders committed to achieving the economic development agenda for the region.  He is a board member of the Indiana University Life Sciences Collaboration and the Indiana University Kelley School Dean's Advisory Council.  He is a member of the Quality Improvement Committee of Premier, Inc., the country's largest hospital consortium. He authors a monthlly article on health and community issues affecting Central Illinois and is a guest lecturer on health and life sciences at the Indiana University Kelley MBA program. Debbie Simon
Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations and Chief Nursing Officer

Debbie Simon began her nursing career with Methodist in 1976 and has served in administrative leadership roles with the hospital since 1978. Her first leadership position was as Head Nurse in the Cardiac Surgical Unit and she has progressively worked her way into upper-level administrative positions, serving as Senior Director of Nursing, Assistant VP of Patient Care Services, and Chief Operating Officer/ Chief Nursing Officer.  In her role, she provides executive leadership and direction to hospital and home care operations and oversees nursing practice in all patient care settings.  Click here to email Debbie.

Cal MacKay
Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer

With 30 years of experience in the healthcare field, Calvin MacKay joined Methodist in 2002. After 16 years as a CPA with Ernst & Young, including time spent running a healthcare audit practice, Cal moved to the provider side of the industry. Prior to joining Methodist, he worked 10 years as CFO of Baptist Hospital of Tennessee and several years as CFO of the WellStar Health System in Georgia. Cal’s diverse financial background includes accounting, auditing, internal controls, physician relations, business development, third party reimbursement, bond issues, revenue enhancement, financial projections, and budgeting.  Click here to email Cal.

 

Cathy Emanuel
Senior Vice President of Business Development and Chief Regional Officer

Cathy Emanuel is the newest member of the Executive Team, joining Methodist in January 2007.  Previously, she spent 13 years as VP of Business Development, Strategy and Governmental Affairs at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, IL, for over 10 years.  Prior to that, she spent 16 years in various other leadership positions at Carle.  Cathy received her MBA from the University of Illinois in 1985.  While in Champaign, she was a contributing member of the community as a member of the Champaign County YMCA Board, the United Way Board, and Developmental Services Center Board.  Click here to email Cathy.

Rick Anderson, MD
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Anderson earned a B.A. in Chemistry/Biology from Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois; an M.D. degree from Rush Medical College, Chicago; and completed a Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Dr. Anderson served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1979.  He is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Dr. Anderson serves on the Joint Committee on Graduate Medical Education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and the University Dean’s Senior Leadership Council.  Click here to email Dr. Anderson.

Ellen Swoger
Chief Information Officer

Ellen Swoger began her Information Technology career in 1984 working at HBO and Company (McKesson) installing patient care information systems. She moved into a consulting role in 1990 (First Consulting Group) where she managed implementation projects, conducted system evaluation/selection projects, and developed information technology plans. Ellen moved from consulting into the VP of Information Technology position in 1997 at Excela Health, a three-hospital IDN in Southwestern Pennsylvania.  Click here to email Ellen.

Michael Jongerius, MD
Executive Medical Director, MMG

Dr. Jongerius is the Executive Medical Director of the Methodist Medical Group, a group of 100 physicians located at 28 sites throughout Central Illinois. Dr. Jongerius received his Medical Degree in 1981 from the University of Missouri, and completed his residency in Family Practice at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania in 1984. Dr. Jongerius was in private clinical practice in Peoria until 2005, when he joined the administrative team at Methodist. Robert Quin, CPA, MBA
Vice President of Finance

Rob Quin became Vice President of Finance at Methodist in January 2005. He has more than 17 years of experience in finance and planning. He previously served as a finance director at another acute care hospital. He was also a senior auditor with KPMG. Rob is a member of Healthcare Financial Management Association and American College of Healthcare Executives. He received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Bradley University and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Illinois State University. Tony Schierbeck
Vice President of Corporate Development

Tony Schierbeck began his career with Methodist Medical Center in 1990.  He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1982 with a degree from the School of Communication and Fine Arts.  Tony's first position at Methodist was Director of Occupational Medical Services and Wellness Center and he has served in administrative leadership roles with the hospital ever since.   He is a member of the Peoria Area Labor Management Advisory Council and the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Tony sits on the board for the Bradley University Chiefs Club and the Boys and Girls Club of Peoria.  Click here to email Tony.

Rebekah Bourland
Vice President of Methodist Foundation

Rebekah Bourland joined Methodist Medical Center Foundation as Vice President in November 2006. She previously spent 12 years as a Regional Manager for John Deere Health (now United Healthcare). She is a native Peorian, graduate of Northwestern University, and has earned the designation of Fellow, Academy of Healthcare Management (FAHM). Rebekah has been a member of the Peoria Civic Center Authority for twelve years and has served three years as Chairman. She also serves on the Board of the Peoria Symphony and the Foster College of Business (Bradley University) National Council of Advisors. She has been honored with the Tom Connor Award for Community Service, the YWCA Legend Award, the Corn Stock Theatre Founders' Award, the WTVP Bourland Award for Service, the Junior Achievement of Central Illinois Louis B.
