Methodist Awards & Honors
Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence
Methodist Medical Center was designated as a Magnet hospital for the second time in January 2009. This is a very prestigious honor, as only five percent of hospitals in the U.S. qualify for Magnet status. Magnet designation is widely accepted as a gold standard in patient care, and the Magnet Recognition Program recognizes excellence and professionalism in nursing. Applicants must undergo an extensive evaluation, and members who are awarded Magnet status must maintain the rigorous standards as part of their four-year designation. Methodist's designation as a Magnet hospital for an additional four years is confirmation of the hospital's resolve to deliver the highest level of nursing today.

A panel of international health information and Internet experts judged the entries based on accuracy and success in reaching the targeted audience and overall quality.
