Methodist Recognized by Wellness Councils of America
Peoria, Illinois (March 2, 2009)--The Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA) has awarded Methodist Medical Center a 2008 Gold Level Well Workplace designation. The recognition, one of only three in the state of Illinois, honors Methodist for the implementation of successful wellness programs. The Workplace designation is a three-year certification.
In naming Methodist, WELCOA said Methodist has demonstrated that it is committed to protecting and enhancing the health and well-being of its employees. Methodist President and CEO Michael Bryant said, "We are pleased with the WELCOA award. At Methodist, we believe it’s important to foster a culture of health that emphasizes and supports wellness and healthy behaviors through educating and empowering employees to take charge of their health."
Methodist employee wellness tools range from health assessments and health planning tools, health educational resources, lifestyle management programs, work-site wellness initiatives, and motivational and incentive programs.
There are four levels of the Well Workplace Awards—Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
