Methodist Cardiovascular Services Recognized in Heart/Stroke Recognition Program
Peoria, Illinois -
Methodist Medical Group Cardiovascular Services has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as part of its Heart/Stroke Recognition Program. The Methodist cardiology group is the only cardiology group in Peoria recognized for this achievement.
The Heart/Stroke Recognition Program, jointly developed by NCQA and the American Heart Association was launched in 2003, designed to recognize clinicians who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to persons with cardiovascular disease or who have suffered a stroke.
Alexander Adler, M.D., Frank Gold, M.D. and Tahir Ilahi M.D. of Methodist Medical Group Cardiovascular Services were all cited by the quality assurance committee for their high quality, evidenced-based care for cardiovascular and stroke patients.
The Heart/Stroke Recognition Program assesses key quality performance measures that are based on guidelines from the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology. The program measures blood pressure control, complete lipid profile, cholesterol control, use of aspirin, and smoking status and cessation advice or treatment.
