Methodist College of Nursing Recommended for Accreditation

Peoria, Illinois-(October 16, 2008)--The Baccalaureate nursing program at Methodist College of Nursing has been recommended for accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC). The NLNAC evaluators visited the College September 30 – October 2, 2008. After reviewing all components of the nursing program, the site evaluators recommended the program for full accreditation. The recommendation report contained no areas identified as needing any improvement.

The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC) is one of two accrediting bodies for nursing education. The NLNAC accredits all types of nursing education programs. The NLNAC is recognized as the accrediting body for all types of nursing education by the U.S. Department of Education.

Methodist College of Nursing has regional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association. Accreditation through the NLNAC is specialized accreditation. Specialized accreditation differs from regional accreditation as it is for specific programs of study such as nursing, business, education, etc. Accreditation, both regional and specialized, is an indicator to the public and other members of the educational community that the institution or program has met the standards and criteria set forth by the accrediting body.
