For example, our commitment to world-class heart care includes the opening of the Methodist Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute and the development of cardiology fellowship programs at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.

Our emphasis on quality has resulted in outstanding, measurable results. In 2005, Methodist earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval, confirming that Methodist has achieved accreditation, meeting or exceeding JCAHO standards including compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals. Methodist ranks in the top 10% for patient satisfaction for inpatient and emergency services, and the top 2% for outpatient services nationwide, based on PressGaney databases (2004). And we are one of approximately 300 hospitals in the U.S. participating in a pilot program conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care.
