Methodist Medical Center, a 329-bed facility with almost 600 board-certified physicians, is committed to ranking in the Top 5% in the U.S. by every measure.  Methodist was the first hospital in downstate Illinois to be awarded Magnet designation for Excellence in Nursing Services, the nation's highest honor in patient care.  Methodist is also the only organization to achieve the 2006 Lincoln Gold Award for Performance Excellence-the highest honor awarded by the Illinois quality organization, the Lincoln Foundation.  Methodist is only the second hospital in the U.S. to receive Joint Commission Disease-Specific Certification for pneumonia care, the first Illinois hospital certified by the Joint Commission for both heart attack and heart failure care.  Finally, Methodist is home to the area's longest continuously running open heart program.

State-of-the-Art Equipment & Care

Methodist Cardiovascular offers the latest diagnostic and treatment services.  The Methodist Emergency Department, a Level II Trauma Center, has the area's largest dedicated Chest Pain Center.

The hospital has an advanced PET/CT scanner that helps doctors pinpoint cancer at the very earliest stage and an ultra-fast, 64-slice CT scanner to look inside the heart without surgery.  Methodist was the first in the area to perform the new non-invasive coronary CT angiogram that made headlines in Time and Newsweek.  Methodist also offers all-digital mammography systems including the Methodist Mammo Van, the only mobile mammography unit in Illinois featuring digital imaging.  The new Methodist Breast Health Center takes a coordinated approach to treating breast cancer that ensures women begin treatment quickly and receive the support they need.  Methodist was among the first hospitals in the country to begin bedside barcoding to ensure every patient gets the right dose of the right medicine at the right time.

Unprecedented Interactivity

Methodist is the only hospital in the Peoria area to have an interactive web site that allows patients to maintain their personal health record online, pre-register online, pay their bills online, set appointments online, order prescription refills online, and even consult their physician.  Methodist also provides a Physician Portal, a secure electronic system that enables physicians to check their patients' test results and other important information, and RelayHealth, an interactive patient portal.
