Physician-Staffed Triage

We are the only Trauma Center in this region with a physician at triage.

What is Triage?

Triage is the process of prioritizing patients a way to sort patients according to the urgency of their conditions.  At Methodist, this is done in the waiting room as you arrive.

What's the benefit of a physician-staffed triage?

• Effective Triage - Each patient gets a medical screening that is required by a physician which allows us to triage the patient to either the Fast Track area (for minor emergencies), the main Emergency Department, or give the patient a prescription and send them on their way.
• Decreased wait time - The physician is able to order tests on the patient while waiting for a room to open up.
• Faster test results - By the time a room has opened up for a patient, their test results are usually available.
• Increased patient satisfaction
• Efficiently run Emergency Department
