The Area's Robotic Pioneers

UnityPoint Health - Methodist was the first hospital in Central Illinois (in 2005) to offer the four-arm da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. 

Robotic surgery is used at Methodist for:

• Urology (Prostate)
• Gynecology
• General Surgery

How does it work?

Using the da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, the surgeon sits at a console viewing a 3-D image of the surgical site. The system translates the surgeon's hand and wrist movements into precise movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.
