It Pays to be Healthy $$
As an active full-time (32 hours or more per week) Methodist employee, you are eligible to participate in our "It Pays to be Healthy" program. This benefit, brought to you by the Wellness Committee, offers many opportunities to improve your health, offers tips for a healthy lifestyle, and rewards you with up to $150 per calendar year for qualified expenses.
How do I qualify for the $150 reimbursement?
Each screening and program has criteria for reimbursement to be met. Once met, the Wellness Center completes the verification form and submits it to HCH for reimbursement to you.

There are many Wellness-related activities and programs available at Methodist. Below are ways you can use your "It Pays to be Healthy" dollars.
Wellness Center Membership
The Wellness Center is located in the lower level of the Atrium building. Hours are Monday – Friday 5:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 12 noon. Extended hours are observed at various times throughout the year. Equipment include: treadmills, airdyne bicycles, recumbent bicycle, land and water aerobics, 3 lane 25 yard lap pool, Stairmasters, elliptical trainer, free weights, Cybex strength training equipment, and a rower. Locker and shower rooms available. Membership requires each person to fill out a membership contract and a health history. Members meet with the exercise specialist for initial fitness testing and then to have a program designed to meet their exercise goals. Facility requires security access card for entry. A $10 deposit is required for the card but would be returned when the card is turned in.

Criteria for Reimbursement: Participant must exercise at least 12 times per month and submit access verification for attendance. Couple membership dues are reimbursed 100% if both the employee and their spouse each exercise 12 times per month. If the employee only exercises 12 times per month then the reimbursement will only be at the single rate appropriate for the contract.
Lap Pool Membership
This membership is for the lap pool only and is 3 months in length. The three lane 25 yard lap pool is open Monday - Friday 5:30 am to 7:30 pm and Saturday 7 am - 12 pm by lane reservations. Monday - Friday from 1 pm - 3 pm is open swim, which does no require a reservation. The pool is closed during water aerobics.
Cost: $65 for three months
Criteria for Reimbursement: Proof of payment and swim 12 times per month for three months.
Health Club Memberships
Now you can exercise at other fitness centers!
Criteria for Reimbursement: Participant must exercise at least 12 times per month and submit verification of attendance to the Wellness Center.
Health Risk Assessment
This assessment tool computes your specific health risks and tells you how you can make choices for a healthier life. Health risk assessments can be obtained at the Wellness Center and once completed should be returned for scoring at the Wellness Center. This tool is not a substitute for a check up by your physician. It only gives you ideas about lowering your risk of being sick or injured in the future.
Cost: No charge (one per year)
Healthy Seasons
A 12-week personal training program with an exercise specialist (on-on-one). You meet with the trainer 2 or 3 times per week for 30 minutes, personal workout program developed for you by the exercise specialist, one nutrition education session with a registered dietician, two fitness assessments, and weekly progress report.
Cost: $300 for the basic 12-week program
Criteria for Reimbursement: Proof of payment and program completion verification done by exercise specialist
Personal Training
Personal training is an option for those that feel they need more motivation to achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals. Training sessions are purchased in one-hour slots. Packages are available as well. All training sessions are individualized to the goals and the fitness level of the participant.

Group Fitness Classes
Aerobic classes (land and water) designed to meet all fitness levels and needs by improving muscular strength, endurance and stamina while burning those calories away.
Cost: $65 for three months of unlimited classes
Criteria for Reimbursement: Proof of payment and 36 classes attended within the 3 months or 12 times per month, verified by Wellness Center staff signing off on verification form.
Moon Walk
The tri-county walking program encourages walkers to record their mileage using a pedometer and as a group walk 954,800 miles, which is to the moon and back.
Cost: $5 for registration and $20 for pedometer.
The incentive structure is reformatted to combine individual incentives and team challenges. At 100 miles, each participant will earn a Moon Walk 2007 t-shirt. Throughout the three months, teams will also have many opportunities to compete in various team challenges. Many of these team challenges will emphasize the walker average for the team and are meant to strengthen the commitment of the whole team. As a reward to the team who wins the bi-weekly team challenge, PALM will donate $100 to one charity or cause of the team's choice.
Criteria for Reimbursement: Proof of payment and walk 100 miles.
Massages
Interested in relieving some troubling symptoms of stress or in a little bit of pampering? The Center of Therapeutic Massage now offers massages on-site at Methodist. Call the Wellness Center at 672-5904 for information or to schedule an appointment.
Cost: $35 for 1/2 hour; $50 for 1 hour
Criteria for Reimbursement: Proof of payment and massage therapist sign-off.
Weight Watchers
For 40 years Weight Watchers has helped millions lose weight. With the Winning Points weight loss program you can still enjoy favorite foods and get the tools you need to help you reach your personal goal. The "At Work Program" from Weight Watchers is the same program offered at local meetings just offered at Methodist for the convenience of our employees. If you miss a meeting at Methodist, you can attend a meeting at a local Weight Watchers location at no charge. You can choose to attend any local Weight Wather meeting if you prefer.
Cost: $12 per week (payment due up-front or through biweekly payroll deduction). For the regular Weight Watcher program you'll need to pay for the 10-week savings and keep the receipt for reimbursement.
Criteria for Reimbursement: Provide proof of payment and keep weight off for three months after the last day of class.
