Wonder Center
At the Methodist Wonder Center, having a baby is a family affair. Your close friends and family are welcome to stay with you throughout labor and delivery. Our comfortable lounge is a great place for loved ones who want to be close by, but not in the room.
Our LDRP (labor-delivery-recover-postpartum) rooms are designed to pamper you with comfort and convenience. State-of-the-art technology is there, too -- tucked away out of sight until it's needed. The look says home with hardwood floors, wooden cabinets, a TV/VCR, and a cozy sofa bed or recliner. Two rooms are even equipped with a jacuzzi for a unique labor experience!
Nearly 2,000 "Wonder Babies" were born at Methodist this past year and we treat each birth as a unique experience. Above all, our experienced, highly trained nurses are dedicated to helping you achieve a safe and positive birthing experience. A lactation specialist is available to help you get off to a good start breastfeeding your baby.
If you choose our Early Discharge program for vaginal deliveries, you can stay in your room for up to 24 hours after delivery, depending on the number of labor patients in The Wonder Center. For a longer stay, you can use your Wonder Center room as a traditional birthing room, and then transfer to the Women's Health unit for your postpartum recovery. Our Well-Baby Nursery cares for your newborn so you can rest, or you can keep your baby in your room if you prefer. For your baby's health and safety, we monitor visitors and limit you to 3 visitors at a time. We also have a specialized security and identification system in place to protect your newborn.
Every Methodist Wonder Baby goes home with a free "Wonder Baby" hat!
